Technology advisory

There is no kill switch on innovation.

I help organisations set strategy in a landscape that won't stand still, then carry it through architecture into execution. Vendor-independent, hands-on, and drawn to the tough problems in places where getting it wrong matters.

I'd rather tell you what not to build than sell you something you don't need.

No vendor on the other end of the recommendation.

Three ways to work together

Advice you can act on, products you can use today, and prototypes that answer the hard questions early.

01

AI strategy and architecture

Advisory

Set a direction that holds up while the landscape keeps moving, then design the architecture that carries it into execution.

What it covers

  • Strategy built for change: what to commit to now, what to keep optional
  • Target architecture: models, data, integration, guardrails
  • Build, buy or partner decisions with the trade-offs written down, no vendor in my pocket
  • A path from the board paper to the first thing shipped

Good fit when

You've got pressure to 'do something with AI' and a dozen vendors telling you what. You need an independent view before you commit budget, and a way to turn it into action.

02

Software products

SaaS

Purpose-built products you can use today, with more in development. Built to solve a specific problem well rather than everything badly.

What it covers

  • Votez: lightweight, transparent voting for groups that need a decision they can trust
  • LIFT Emergency Drone Service Research: applied research into drone-delivered emergency response
  • New products in development, shaped by real client problems
  • Hosted, maintained and supported, so you use them rather than run them
  • Early access for clients who want a say in what gets built next

Good fit when

You've got a recurring problem that off-the-shelf tools handle badly, and you'd rather adopt something focused than commission a build.

03

EMS technology prototyping

Applied R&D

Fast, honest prototypes for pre-hospital care, built by someone who understands both the technology and the clinical setting.

What it covers

  • Feasibility studies with a working prototype, not just a report
  • Decision support, triage and dispatch tooling
  • Field-tested with clinicians before anything is called 'done'
  • Clear go / no-go recommendations with the evidence behind them

Good fit when

You're an ambulance or emergency service with a tough problem and an idea that might matter. You need to know quickly and cheaply whether it holds up.

How we work

Small, senior, and close to the work

You get me, not a bench. I work alongside your team, stay with the strategy until it's running, and leave you with something you can operate without me.

01 — Discover

Discover

One to two weeks. We get clear on the mission, the constraints, and what 'done' looks like. You get a written view you can act on with or without me.

02 — Prove

Prove

A working prototype in front of real users, fast. Cheap to be wrong here, expensive to be wrong later.

03 — Hand over

Build and hand over

Production-grade delivery with your people in the loop from day one, so the capability stays when the engagement ends.

About

Roger Lawrence

I've spent my career at the point where new technology meets people who have a job to do. Enterprise architecture, emerging technology, and pre-hospital care, often at the same time.

No Kill Switch is the practice I built to put that experience to work for organisations that need to move on AI without losing the plot. I don't resell anyone's platform, so the advice is mine and the trade-offs are yours to see.
